# Omnichain token (USDT0)

Working definition: a token moving across blockchains with one supply; USDT0 locks USDT on Ethereum and mints 1:1 elsewhere.

An omnichain token (working definition) is a token built to move across many blockchains while keeping one supply. USDT0 uses the Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard, which moves tokens over LayerZero's messaging protocol with a unified supply across all chains. USDT is locked in an OFT Adapter contract on Ethereum, the same amount of USDT0 is minted on the destination chain with strict 1:1 backing, and redeeming burns USDT0 on any chain and unlocks the original asset on Ethereum.
